Screenwriting incubator program

Screenwriting incubator program

Momentum is a flagship initiative of the Massimadi Foundation, designed to offer an annual mentorship program dedicated to the scriptwriting of audiovisual projects. This program is specifically aimed at scriptwriters who identify as Afro and belong to LGBTQ+ communities. The program enables them to develop and share their stories.

Over nearly six months, selected scriptwriters will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in 12 interactive workshops covering the fundamentals of scriptwriting, narrative structure, and advanced writing techniques.
- Attend 12 group sessions to discuss, brainstorm ideas, and receive constructive feedback on their projects.
- Be mentored by experienced professionals from the Quebec and Canadian film industry.
- Meet key players in the audiovisual industry, establishing valuable connections for their careers.
- Take part in two major events, including a networking session ("creative matchmaking") and a public reading to present their projects to an audience.

Program Objectives and Impact

The project aims to support and equip young Afro-queer talents in their artistic journey in order to:
- Amplify their voices and provide visibility to often marginalized narratives.
- Raise public awareness by sharing authentic and diverse stories.
- Combat discrimination against LGBTQ+ communities, particularly those from Afro communities, through the power of audiovisual storytelling.
- Facilitate access to the film industry by providing the necessary tools to transform their ideas into concrete projects.
