MOMENTA BIENNALE DE L'IMAGE : EXPOSITION
September 28 - 5:30 pm
Location: Galerie B-312, Espace 403, 372 sainte Catherine O 4e étage
The artwork "Quantum Choir" (2022) is a four-channel video installation, emphasizing the procedural dimension involved in any imitation process, as well as the therapeutic - even jubilant - virtue of repetition. The artist's deep apprehension about singing in public serves as a starting point for a choral work on recognition, fragility, and solidarity among masculine queer women, with whom Clarke identifies. Each of them has accepted to join the artist in collectively overcoming their vocal complexities. Naisargi N. Dave, Kerry Manders, and Kimiko Tobimatsu practice singing "Queen of Denmark" by John Grant, a pop song that aptly evokes the challenging journey of self-acceptance. The exhibition visit will be followed by a discussion and karaoke workshop.
Exhibition produced in partnership with Galerie B-312.
This exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Massimadi Foundation and MOMENTA | BIENNALE DE L'IMAGE.
